Hello all
The high student energy levels are a clear indicator that we are reaching the end of term - more accurately heading into the final week of our 2025 school year!
We’ve had a fantastic academic year in spite of the constant movement of families out of Glen Innes and away from our school. The redevelopment of housing and infrastructure across Tamaki has had a dramatic negative influence on our school roll. We’ve remained small through the year as not many new homes have been released to families - something we’re looking forward to! A surge of new enrolments can’t be too far off. With that in mind a combination of the Ministry, our School Board and the Steve Farrelly Foundation have allowed us to have additional staff members in anticipation of early 2026 growth. You can play a part in our growth by ensuring that your new neighbours enrol their children at our school. All schools across Tamaki have enrollment zones - GIS is no different.
A massive thanks goes out to our regular football coach Altan Ramadam who has come in to coach all classes each Friday. The students have really enjoyed his sessions; and we have seen fantastic growth and ability in student skills. Altan has also introduced us to the Auckland FC; they are looking at hosting a clinic to identify students to take up a pathway into the game right here at Glen Innes School. More clinic details to follow.
Year 8 Graduation Dinner
This event is planned for Thursday 11 December. We are expecting every Year 8 student and two family members (adults) to be in attendance as we celebrate the end of their primary schooling phase. The staff have been hard at work preparing for the evening. Our speaker for the evening is Nua Finau, actor, presenter and NZ film producer.

This is the FINAL writing celebration week. Well done Timote (Rm 4) and Jane (Rm 10). Their writing is on display in the reception area.
Across the year we have been tracking student attendance. As you now know, the Ministry is requiring us to issue letters of non-regular attendance to parents in the categories ‘Worrying, Concerning and Serious Concern’ from the start of 2026 as part of the Stepped Attendance Response (STAR). More detail can be found on our website under Information / Stepped Attendance.
For 2025 we still had reason to celebrate as our 87% average attendance remained above the national average. Our classes with the best attendance over the year were Rooms 3, 6, 7 & 8 with 90% average attendance. My thanks to those parents and whanau for valuing daily attendance and helping the classes achieve this outcome.
As this is the final main bulletin for the year, please accept our thanks as a staff for the trust you placed in us to deliver interesting learning experiences for your child. We’ve already started putting the activities list in place for all terms in 2026 and our first student experience is in week two of term one!
Have a great family focussed weekend
